Pronounced a "real talent" by the Wall Street Journal, New York-based pianist Andrea Lam enjoys consistent acclaim as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician for her "great style and thrilling virtuosity" (Sydney Morning Herald).  A semifinalist in the 2009 Van Cliburn Competition, Silver Medallist in the San Antonio Piano Competition, Andrea’s awards include the ABC's Young Performer Award (Keyboard section), the Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant, and the Yale Woolsey Hall Competition.

Andrea Lam performs with orchestras in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong and the United States, including San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Performing in venues including Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Centre and the Smithsonian Art Museum (USA), she is a regular guest of festivals such as Sydney Festival, Musica Viva’s Huntington Estate Music Festival, the Yellow Barn and Great Lakes Chamber Music Festivals (USA), and Orford Festival (Canada). In Australia, 2018 engagements include Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Australian Youth Orchestra and Monash Academy of Performing Arts.

 

Andrea holds degrees from Yale School of Music and the Manhattan School of Music. A native of Sydney, Australia, she was featured in two nationally televised programs, including Andrea's Concerto. ABC Classics recently released her soloist recordings of Mozart Concertos with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Nicholas Milton, and Andrea also features on critically acclaimed recordings as pianist of the Claremont Trio.
